La Jolla Attractions
Birch Aquarium at Scripps, The Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla is an award winning aquarium which displays many species of sea life found in the Pacific Ocean. While at the Birch aquarium at Scripps you will see a living coral reef, sharks, and other various species of the Pacific Ocean. There is a tide pool on display that allows people to touch some animals commonly found in a tide pool such as sea stars. This is one of many great activities in La Jolla for the kids.

Mount Soledad is a hill in La Jolla, topping 820 feet and it is situated between the Pacific Ocean and the I-5. On top of Mount Soledad sits the Mount Soledad Cross. Urban Legend has it that many little people who were the stars of shows such as the Wizard of Oz settled at Mount Soledad. However, this is not the case. What is true is that Mount Soledad was once home to the famous children's author Dr. Seuss. If you are visiting Mount Soledad take note that at the top of Mount Soledad, you are treated to a nice view of downtown San Diego.
Children's Pool Beach, at one time this beach was to become a "beach for children" and it has actually become a place frequented by seals and sea lions. These creatures even have their own reserve here called Seal Rock. The beach is a quick walk from the commercial areas of La Jolla and is a favorite place of scuba divers who come to explore the many reefs found in this part of the Pacific Ocean.

La Jolla Beaches
La Jolla is home to some of the most majestic beaches in San Diego. Many La Jolla beaches are surrounded by cliffs which provide for amazing views. A La Jolla travel guide would not be complete without exploring the beaches in La Jolla.
Blacks Beach
Blacks Beach is located near the campus of The University of California San Diego in La Jolla. The close proximity to the University makes Blacks Beach a hangout for many college students. The beach is situated near cliffs which makes it popular for hang gliders. If you are on the Northern part of the beach beware, clothing is optional in that area. You are reading this correctly, a portion of Blacks beach welcomes nudity.
 If you want to visit Blacks beach where clothing is required, head to the Southern part of the beach. It is here that you will find many surfers in the waters. Blacks beach is known among the local surfing community as having some of the best breaks in San Diego.
To get to Blacks Beach, take I-5 and exit Genessee, head west to North Torrey Pines Rd, turn left and drive to Torrey Pines scenic road, make a right .
La Jolla Shores Beach
La Jolla Shores Beach is right next to down town La Jolla and all of its many shops and glamorous botiques. There is a boardwalk at La Jolla shores beach which spans the beach and it is a great place for La Jolla activities such as walking, rollerblading and biking. La Jolla shores beach offers great views and many marine activities to include swimming, surfing, and scuba diving.
To get to La Jolla Shores beach, From the north, take I-5 south, exit at La Jolla Village Drive, west. Turn left at Torrey Pines Road and follow it to La Jolla Shores Drive. From the south, take I-5 north, exiting at Ardath Road. Take a right at La Jolla Shores Drive, a left at Avenida de la Playa, and a right on Camino del Oro.
La Jolla Cove Beach
La Jolla Cove Beach is a fantastic beach for both divers and swimmers alike. The La Jolla beach cove is a scuba divers favorite because it contains some of the clearest ocean waters seen in San Diego, and it is located in the La Jolla ecological preserve. The cliffs nearby also create a spectacular view. It is important to note that there is no parking lot near the beach. There are meters on the streets nearby so bring some change.

Marine Street Beach
If you are taking a trip to Marine Street beach you will quickly realize that you are near very upscale areas within La Jolla. High end shops and galleries are nearby and this beach enjoys some of the best views of any beach in the La Jolla area, aside from Windansea beach. If you are going to Marine Street beach in hopes of swimming, beware as the waves at the Marine Street beach are very powerful and can be dangerous to a novice swimmer. However, it is a good beach to take in some sun in the sand.
Marine Street beach is located, At the foot of Marine Street in La Jolla, four blocks west of La Jolla Boulevard.
Windanesa Beach
Windansea Beach is quite possibly one of the most scenic beaches in San Diego and Southern California for that matter. The Windansea beach is great for sunbathing and  relaxation. As you are at Windansea beach you will notice gorgeous sandstone which surrounds the beach. The beach is popular among surfers because of the large wave breaks created by a condition called shorebreak which creates hard breaking surf conditions.

Scuba Diving
If you are a scuba diver, La Jolla has some fantastic areas to dive. For starters check out La Jolla Cove. At La Jolla Cove, a diver will find various reef areas and caves to explore. The La Jolla Cove is part of the La Jolla Park Ecological Reserve which is one reason while divers will find so much ecological biodiversity during a dive. Because the Cove is part of the part of the la Jolla Park ecological reserve, you cannot take marine life during a dive.
Shopping
La Jolla in San Diego is a great place for a shopping enthusiast to visit and there is a lot of variety to select from. If you head over to Prospect street or Girard avenue, you will find some hip shopping botiques, and trendy clothing stores. La Jolla shopping is also known for its various high end art galleries and jewelry stores. If you are avid shopper or enjoy even window shopping, The La Jolla shopping district will not disappoint.
Golf
La Jolla golf is home to the world famous Torrey Pines Golf course, known for its beautiful scenery and challenging holes. The Torrey Pines golf course in La Jolla hosts the Buick  Invitational tournament of the PGA every February. In 2009 the Torrey Pines golf course also play host to the LPGA Samsung World championship tournament. If you are hoping to play golf in La Jolla at Torrey Pines, you are in luck.
